This is probably a stupid question, but how do you get heads filled in with color?

Do you mean the same colour as the stick, Or a different colour?

this is a easy go to create stick figures! then creat ur stick use the circle make it small then increase its size with the up and down arrow! also go to options and experiment with edit mode.

But if you want different colour get the stick, With a no Filled head, Create a new stick, a few sizes below the size of the head, And choose colour, Hard to animate, But thats it you want the colour of the bg On the head but not over the black line
